Heater installation in Los Angeles

Most LA homes are wildly oversized on heating. Furnace technology from 1995 + a house built when nobody cared about insulation = a system that short-cycles and never runs efficiently. A correctly-sized modern system — gas furnace, electric resistance, or heat pump — runs longer at lower output, costs less to run, and actually feels comfortable.

Your three heating options in LA today

  • Heat pump (our default recommendation): one system handles cooling and heating, big rebates available, no combustion gas in your home, perfect for LA's mild climate. See heat pump installation.
  • High-efficiency gas furnace: still makes sense for very large homes, homes with extensive existing gas infrastructure, or where heat-pump rebates don't qualify.
  • Ductless heat pump (mini-split): room-by-room control without ducts — perfect for ADUs, additions, or older bungalows. See mini-split installation.

We'll show you the lifetime cost (install + 15-year operating + rebates) of each option during your free consultation.

How it works

Our heater installation process

What to expect from first call to final commissioning.

1

Free heating consult

We assess insulation, ductwork, gas line and electrical, then discuss climate goals and rebate eligibility.

2

Right-sized design

Manual J heat-load calc. Properly sized system runs longer, quieter, and 20–30% more efficiently.

3

Permits + install

City permit, Title-24 compliance, HERS testing. Most installs complete in 1–2 days.

4

Commissioning

Gas pressure or refrigerant charge verified, airflow measured, controls programmed, walk-through.

Rebates & incentives

Every rebate dollar, handled for you

HVAC in LA files the paperwork for every program you qualify for. Most projects stack at least two of these.

Heater Installation FAQs

Gas furnace or heat pump — which should I install?
For most LA homes, a heat pump wins on lifetime cost: lower operating cost in a mild climate, no combustion safety concerns, and stacked rebates that often cover $5–10K of the install. Furnaces still make sense in large, leaky homes with cheap gas. We'll run the math both ways at the consult.
Will a heat pump keep my house warm enough?
Yes — even in our coldest LA mornings (typically 38–45°F), modern heat pumps deliver full heating capacity efficiently. They actually deliver more even, gentler heat than a furnace because they run longer at lower output.
How long does heater installation take?
A direct furnace swap completes in two to three days. A heat pump conversion (new outdoor unit + indoor air handler + thermostat) is 2–3 days. New ductwork adds another day.
Do you need to replace my ducts?
Sometimes. We test duct leakage at the consult. If your ducts leak more than 15% (very common in older LA homes), replacement pays back fast in comfort and energy. We'll show you the numbers.
